PS22, a choir of fifth graders from Graniteville, Staten Island, New York, wows a worldwide audience during the 83rd Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood, California. You may have wondered how this school choir got their big break.  Well, the performance at the Oscars wasn’t their first public appearance.  Ever since 2006, the school choir has performed at many different venues all over New York.  They even made TV appearances on VH1, Good Morning America, and It’s On With Alexa Chung. New York Magazine has called them “the best-known elementary school chorus on the planet”.  Last December, Oscar co-host Anne Hathaway went to the choir’s winter concert, surprising the choir with the invitations to perform at the Academy Awards.  As you can imagine, the kids were ecstatic.  After giving a wonderful performance at the Oscars, the kids later performed with Katy Perry on Oprah.  This choir is truly talented and I hope to see their success continue!
