I am probably in the minority who eats three meals a day. Many people I know seem to skip breakfast entirely with lunch serving as their first meal. Others still eat very small meals during regular meal times as well as between meals, totaling four or five small meals per day. A high school friend of mine in the latter group told me that eating many small meals allowed her not to eat too much. I will admit that there have been times that I felt as though I was starving after a long interval between meals and ended up eating more than I should. There is yet a fourth group of people who eat just one large meal per day.
